Receiving God's Goodness (2)

May 7th, 2020

Scripture Focus :
2 Peter 1:3

According as his divine power hath given unto us all things that pertain unto life and godliness, through the knowledge of him that hath called us to glory and virtue.

The circumstances and issues of life are going to wage war with the aim of making us lose our confidence in the goodness of God. This reminds me of a movie I watched years back of a disabled brother who was well to do but couldn't walk. He had a beautiful family and loved the Lord so much; one day he went on a mission to preach the gospel in another city but before his arrival, he was informed that his family ran into a truck conveying petroleum products and they all got burnt. He was broken when he received the news but ended up saying to himself that no matter what, God is good.

The experience above and many more are part of the things that we are likely to see and experience but none of this things are enough to dispute the potency of God's love for us. The sacrifice of Christ on the cross of Calvary is the greatest evidence of the unbroken character of God's goodness. There is nothing God will ever give you on earth that can outweigh that sacrifice. Now back to my movie story, while he was crying and saying that he won't give up his faith in God's love or question the goodness of God, someone walked in with the police to inform him and his sympathizers that his wife and child were safe in police custody. They were delivered before the car burst into flames. Wow! what a relieving news.

We are at war in the earth realm and the situations of life through the devil want to make us question the love of God and His goodness towards us. Let the sacrifice of His only begotten Son be your reference, convince yourself that since He can give you His son, then He can answer all your prayers. How can God who gave His only begotten Son to die for you refuse to give you that which you need, again the problem isn't about God giving, it's about our receiving end. Our eyes have been blinded by our temporal pain and little afflictions. The Lord help us!

TODAY'S PRAYER:
Dear Heavenly Father, thank you for your goodness over my life, help me not to be blinded by the temporary afflictions I face in Jesus Christ name! Amen!
